What you receive
Delivered by email, within minutes
A license is a signed file, sent from support@sigilchat.com within minutes of purchase, and within 48 hours at the latest. It names whoever the buyer chose at checkout, and a license under another name is issued free on request. Install a server license from the administration panel and the new limit applies at once; a client license goes into the client, under Settings, on the Devices tab.
What an account is
An account is one registered user on your server. Deleting an account, from its own settings or from the administration panel, frees its place. Editions are a ceiling, not a meter: a group that shrinks keeps the license it bought.
Included within version 1
Updates within version 1 are included. A future paid version 2 would be offered as a flat €15 upgrade, and version 1 keeps working regardless.

Companies and institutions
Perpetual licenses for more than 100 accounts, priced by volume, with invoice, purchase order and data processing agreement available, and an optional yearly support contract with a guaranteed response time. A registered non-profit pays half.

Is it really free for five accounts, without a time limit?
Yes. Every feature, for as long as the server runs.
Which edition is ours, Community or Business?
It depends on what the server is for, not on who runs it. Individuals, families, clubs, associations, schools and libraries use Home or Community. Companies, the self-employed and public administration use Business, or Enterprise above 100 accounts. A non-profit with more than 50 accounts pays half for Business or Enterprise.
Does anyone have to pay past five accounts?
No one is made to. Sigil asks through a reminder window that can be closed every time, and it keeps working either way. A license is how the work is funded; the reminder is how Sigil asks.
Does using several servers need a license?
Not for five or fewer. One client may hold accounts on up to five servers for free. Past five, the client shows a reminder that can be closed every time, and nothing is blocked. A client license, Personal or Business, retires the reminder on the device it is entered on.
How do payment and refunds work?
Checkout is handled by Paddle, the merchant of record, which also collects VAT or sales tax where it applies. Refunds are handled through Paddle; write to support@sigilchat.com. The refund policy has the details.
When does the license arrive?
By email within minutes of purchase, and within 48 hours at the latest. If nothing has arrived within an hour, check the spam folder, then write to support@sigilchat.com with the order number from Paddle's receipt.
What if the group shrinks?
Nothing happens. The license remains valid. A payment is only ever needed to move up an edition.
How technical does the administrator need to be?
Comfortable running a small server: a machine at home or a VPS. Setup guides are included in the docs folder of every download.
